My husband and I love the High Line: a grass meadow and art park built on the old elevated train tracks in lower Manhattan. Truly wonderful views, far and near. Doesn't hurt that the Chelsea food market is right underneath!

At the High Line

Above are photos I took in 2009 2010 of my two favorite Copper Beech trees, each at least 90 years old, and 85 feet high. I have been near them much of the last 30 years, and refer to them in my mind as the 2 sisters. This past Spring the tree on the left was cut down, apparently due to incurable rot at the base. Honestly, I feel grief as if a dear friend is gone.
